We are the member of the “Hostel Association of Kyoto”, the network of hostels and guest houses in Kyoto.

This HAK decided to conduct the CROWD-FUNDING for supporting hostels which suffer catastrophic damage by the COVID-19.

The Japanese consumption tax is increased to 10% from October 1, 2019.

We are pleased to inform that even when the tax increase is enforced, our room charge including the consumption tax remains no change.

From stays on June 1st, current Men’s dormitory will be changed to a private room for 2 – 4 persons.

Please stay with a couple, group or family.

(We do not accept reservations from, or solely for any minors aged 12 or younger.)

For a single use for men, please book Japanese private room.

A coin operated laundry is opened at just a three minute-walk distance from Otabi-an.

Business hour : 7:00 – 22:00, open through year.

Japanese style private room now accepts up to 2 persons.  The room charge for a single use maintains the same.

A “sento”, public bath near Otabi-an which is famous for its quaint appearance of Showa-era provided us with their event news as follows:

• September 9 – 21  : closed every Thursday
  Noren (Japanese store curtain) used in Japanese film “Mother Water” released in 2010, staring Satomi Kobayashi and Kyoko Koizumi is shown.
• November 18 -30 :closed every Thursday
  Evenning of Take-Tourou  – Japanese garden lantern made of Bamboo
• December 21 
  “Yuzu-buro”  Yuzuz – Citron – are set afloat in the bath , traditional Japanese custom for the winter solstice.

Business time 16:00 – 23:00  closed every Thursday

We sell discount ticket for public bath in Otabi-an hostel.

“Hinode-yu” is located at about 400m from our hostel, a distance of 5-minute walk. A guide map is available also.
